Celebrating Biba4Network’s 6 years anniversary

Big Day! - I am celebrating Biba4Network’s 6 years anniversary next week!

When I look back, I am very proud of everything I've accomplished. Let me take this opportunity to thank all of you who supported, and give special thanks to those who have been by my side since day one. Some of you have been on the mailing list since the very beginning. I still remember my very first even in New York; I was so afraid that nobody will show up.

I don’t know about you, but for some reason, the month of May is very inspirational for me, and here are some of the ways my life has been changed in May.

In May 1997, I was a sales manager in a French company, making great money, but was not fulfilled since my dream was to live in New York since a little girl. So I decided to come to New York for two weeks of vacation, in order to look for a job. I still remember my boss’s reaction “You can’t leave for two weeks, the team needs you”. I reminded him that in May, there are so many days off that half of the French population doesn’t work anyway, so I wouldn’t miss any business and definitely nobody would miss me. After a thirty minute conversation, I got my two weeks of vacation. That day I decided that I would NEVER let anybody tell me what I can or can’t do, EVER.

So I came to New York, with tons of copies of my resume, got some job offers, but realized that getting a visa (Work permit) would take lot of time. So I went back home, and decided that I would start my own business in France, so I could travel the way I wanted without anybody telling mewhat I could or couldn’t do, so I could come back in New York as often I wanted.

In May 1998, I launched my first business in Paris, F.P Communication, a telemarketing company. I ran the business successfully for two years, until it was established. Then worked on my dream.

In May 2000, I came back to New York to do a test, and see if I could run my French business from New York, and so realize my dream to live in New York. Everything worked very well, actually none of my clients even realized that I left for two weeks. For a couple of few years, I went back and forth between Paris and New York, working via phone and Internet for my French business and just having fun in New York. At that time I didn’t even think of starting a business here. But after a while it became more and more difficult to keepcrossing the ocean. So I investigated how I could start a business so I could get a visa and work here. Long story short, I discovered the world of networking, liked the concept, and decided to start a business around it.

In May 2003, I launched Biba4Network. When you know that onaverage, 50% of new businesses don’t survive their first year, starting a business in a foreign country when you barely speak the language and have to deal with a complete different culture, to be able to survive and make it a successful business – yes! I am proud of the result. Since then, I have built a wonderful network and worked with hundreds of people and entrepreneurs from various environments and actually built an international network. After a while, I was approached by a number of other Frenchpeople who asked me how I was able to start a business in the US. For a while I gave all the information for free, until I realized that it was taking lot of my time and I was on a great niche.

In May 2005, thanks to my network, I built a team with various experts and partners like lawyers, CPA, bankers and other consultants, and launched My French Network in order to help other French entrepreneurs to realize their dream as I did.

Today I am running two very successful international businesses and all of this thanks to networking! So who said that “networking is not working?” Trust me, networking is working when you work it well!

After few years in New York, I now continue my journey in sunny Miami for almost 2 years where I really have a great quality of life and enjoy every day of it. My business continue to evolve, and I actually just started a new venture Investment Properties Network.com, company that will be incorporated in May 2009.

I guess I am always inspired in May, or that must be my lucky month.

All of this was possible thanks to networking, I am so glad that I made this decision few years ago, even when I didn’t know nothing about networking at that time.

Let your clients do the job for you

This week article is about testimonials, it is really a marketing strategy that most of solo-entrepreneurs neglect and I noticed that lots of my clients don’t use them. Having a raving fan talking about your business will sale your products or services ten time more than what ever you can say about yourself. So let your clients do the job for you.

On my French consulting business, My French Network, I never advertise or promote the business. I work on a such specific niche and I am one of the only 2 or 3 in the US offering those services, that I don’t need to advertise. Key word work very well to the point that if you search in French “start a business in the US” my French website always arrives on the top of google. I never had to pay for pay per clip or optimization to get this result. The topic alone bring me clients. I give a lot of information on the website, I offer a 30 minute free consultation and the reasons why I have at least 4 to 5 new people contacting me each week is because:
One - I tell my story and they can relate to it since I’ve been on their shoes before – French looking to start a business in the US when I didn’t even know the language.
Second - and most important because of all the testimonials that I have which show them how I helped hundreds of French entrepreneurs to start their business and realize their American dream, saving them time, money and avoiding them big mistakes. Up Your Sales With Testimonials

When a prospect is deciding to hire you, register for your program, or buy your product online, you aren't there in person to help convince them you're "for real." That means you have to go the extra mile by building credibility, so your web visitor immediately can trust you!

One of the easiest and most effective ways to do this - and increase your sales by leaps and bounds - is to feature TESTIMONIALS from your clients and customers. Testimonials may seem like a given, but many people completely forget to use them in their marketing. You can never have too many testimonials. In fact, if you enjoy watching TV infomercials like I do, you've probably noticed a typical 30 minute spot is over 80% testimonials! And that's for good reason... they are the hands-down BEST way to gain instant credibility. So rack 'em up, and put them everywhere!

Here are 3 ways to make sure your testimonials sell FOR you...

1. Ask for RESULTS-ORIENTED Testimonials
The most effective testimonials are results oriented. That is, they share actual results your clients or customers have gotten. Also include numbers, dollar amounts, and/or percentages to get your prospect's attention and dramatically increase your response. Lame testimonial: "Alexandria Brown's Online Success Blueprint course is a great guide to online marketing."Awesome testimonial (and a real one, too!): "Thanks to the powerful, simple strategies I Learned from Alexandria Brown's Online Success Blueprint, I made 60,000 dollars in 2 DAYS. I will easily QUADRUPLE my revenues this year. Thank you!"

2. Include Full Information on the Client or Customer
Have you ever seen shifty ads in the back of magazines with testimonials like this? "This super product melted away 300 tons off my body overnight!" - E.B. in Wichita, Kansas. Yah, right! I'm sure "E.B." is a real person and that's a real testimonial. Hmmm... The more information you provide about your clients and customers, the more believable your testimonials are. Include full name, occupation or company name, city and state they're from, web address (if applicable), and a PHOTO. (Even a poor photo, if that's all they have. It's important to make them REAL to your reader.) You can see samples of how I did this here.

3. Use Audio (or Video) Testimonials for Even Better Results
Audio and video also add a TON of credibility to your testimonials, because your prospects actually hear and/or see the client or customer delivering the testimonial!Audio is a snap to set up on your web pages using a great tool called Audio Acrobat. Have your customers/clients call their hotline and leave a voicemail testimonial. Then you just copy and paste the code onto your website! Bug, Then Beg. And if All Else Fails... Bribe!

If you have trouble getting testimonials from your clients or customers whom you KNOW have had great experiences working with you or using your products, don't get mad at them. You just have to bug them. It's rare you'll receive a testimonial unsolicited.First, contact clients/customers whom you know have gotten great results thanks to you. Ask them if they can write up a short testimonial outlining their experience. They'll probably say "yes" but will forget to follow up or take a long time. I then usually offer to write something up for them based on what they've shared with me, which I'll email to them for approval. Every time I've offered this, they are relieved and say "great!" And 99% of the time they are delighted with what I sent them.

As a last resort, and if you're dealing with clients/customers whom you may not know as well, I suggest offering an "ethical" bribe to encourage them. For example, have a contest and the people whose testimonials are chosen for your web page get a free product or prize. Gets them off their butts and works every time! :)

5 Ways to Keep Learning and Growing - Even on a Tight Budget

I recently received a long letter from one of my readers -whom I'll call "Amy" -- that went something like this, "Ali, I see you're now charging beaucoup bucks for your coachingprograms and to mentor with you. No question you are worth thousands of dollars to work with! But I feel really stuck.You see, I am down to my last dime. You emphasize howimportant it is to keep learning and growing... and to havea mentor, but how can someone like me do this when there'sno money to invest?"

Ah yes, Amy, believe me, I remember what that was like. Infact, things got so bad when I first started my businessback in New York 10 years ago that there was one evening Icouldn't even take out $20 from the ATM. (And even if I didhave cash to spend, I didn't know where to find a mentoranyway.)

So what's a girl to do when she's on a budget?

Answer: Learn all she can within her means.

While in-depth courses and high-level mentorship programsdeliver a complete plan for those who are ready to investand move forward quickly, don't forget about tried and truelow-budget learning options. The five I list below aresurely nothing new, but often times we forget they are herefor the taking! The only trick is you have to motivateyourself.

1. Books.

Yes, books. Remember books? There are millions of helpfuland educational books out there. Both new ones in bookstoresand used ones at the library. Ones to inspire you, tomotivate you, to help you think differently, and deliveringspecific steps to grow yourself and your business. Spend arainy afternoon in a Borders or Barnes & Noble with a coffeeand see what strikes your fancy. Or finally get that local library card and see what they have to offer in theirbusiness and self help sections. Bonus: Most libraries alsocarry CDs and DVDs that they rent for free or a low fee, andusually you'll be able to find several educational titles.


Search your topic of business online and you're bound tofind tons of free online information and many in the form ofezine subscriptions and reports. From marketing tomoneymaking, from advertising to finding clients, if yousearch for it you will find it. Just know these media - being free - are typically moreintroductory information and used as lead generators. Butgood content can surely be found!

3. Free teleseminars and webinars. (Check our Monthly Teleclass)

Along the same lines, many experts are also hosting freeteleseminars and webinars day and night around the globe.All you need to participate is a phone or an Internetconnection. From business training to personal development -search and you will find as well! As with free ezines andreports, you can learn a lot from these events, but justexpect a sales offer during the session.
4. Free and low-cost live seminars.

Even adult education classes via organizations such as theLearning Annex are great to get started. Even though theyusually feature very basic info, I've found these classesare still good to help reboot your brain and give you somenew ideas to walk away with. If you live in a major city you can also almost always findfree or low-cost seminars to attend as well, if you keepyour eyes and ears open. But remember, the hosts of theseevents aren't non-profits! Expect a sales invitation to buytheir products or enroll in a program. Just realize thisupfront as you go in and graciously decline should youchoose not to take advantage.

5. Lower-priced information products and programs.

If you can't afford a live mentor, how about one in a box?That's how I started! And I admit it was even from a TV infomercial. Back when I had finally quit my last job 10 years ago, I waslost and frustrated. I had started my business but was downto just a few hundred dollars in my bank account. One latenight I was up and turned on the TV and saw an infomercialfor Tony Robbins' "Personal Power II". (Funny enough, I could barely see it on the screen since I couldn't affordcable TV and was watching it via old-fashioned rabbitears.)

If I remember correctly, the product was $179 at the time. That was a huge stretch for me, and I opted for the paymentplan. And when those cassettes arrived (yes, I got thecassettes because they were cheaper than the CDs), I doveinto them like a box of chocolates! Tony became my virtualmentor as his voice of encouragement, showing me how tothink big, was played in my ears every day while I rode thesubway.
If you're not growing, you're dying.

Remember that not having cash to invest in your business isno excuse to sit on your bum. There's a great saying, "Godhelps those who help themselves." Having money isn't aprerequisite to step forward to grow and become your best.The only requirement to your stepping into your greatness isyour true desire to do so.
