Happy 4th of July to all of you

I had an amazing 3 day seminar with my French clients. Thanks to my expanded network, I was able to introduce them to people they might have never met if they were simplycoming as tourists. More importantly, they first learned about business and financial opportunities that they didn't imagine might be available before. They left the seminar with new ideas that will help them to grow their business and make a lot more money- even during the recession.

We are already in July, which means we are half way of 2009. Did you achieve any of the goals you made in the beginning of the year or did you already forget them? This is your second chance! Don't miss it.

Set up your goals and refocus on your goals for the next 6 months and be sure to be on track by December. Don't try to do too much at once. It is better to have 2 to 3 important goals that you will be able to achieve than to have 10 that you might give up within few weeks or months. I actually did a collage a couple of weeks ago, to set my goals for the next 6 months. I put it next to my desk as a reminder.

Don't try to eat an elephant in one time. Set up baby goals every month and try hard to make sure you reach them. Try to get to the big picture by of the end of the year. If you try to do too much at once, you will get discouraged. It doesn't work the way you want if you try to rush it and consequently nothing solid will happen.

What are your goals for the next 30 days?

Being a small business owner often means wearing a number of different hats. How many of you act as the CEO, the general manager, the accountant, the salesperson, the computer technician, the secretary, the receptionist, etc...? Sound familiar?

Many entrepreneurs try to chase too many targets at once andend up overwhelmed rather than focusing on their business.They spend all their energy carrying out daily tasks leavinglittle time for the most important part of their business -their own business! To avoid this, spend some time focusing on your business and decide which strategies will be most helpful in developing your own marketing plan.

In order to grow and succeed in your business, you first need to have a crystal clear ideaof what you want to do and where you want to go. In otherwords, have you defined your objectives? And more importantly, have you put them in writing?

This was actually a new concept for me. In the French culture we are not used to doing this and when I tried toteach it to some of my French clients, they just thought Iwas nuts! But I understand why because it took me a whilebefore I decided to give it a try. My thoughts were that Ihad always managed to get what I wanted without the need towrite my objectives down. But since so many people here werealready applying this concept to their business, I decidednot to be stubborn and give it a go too.

Wow! Since I have been using this concept everything hasmoved so much faster in the last few years. Writing my objectives on a weekly basis and being veryspecific in each area of my business has given me theopportunity to create strategic alliances with other entrepreneurs, triple my database, double my revenue 5 years in a raw,write a book, develop my business internationally, etc.

Now my big dreams are a reality!

In addition to writing down my goals, I make collages every 3 to 6 months. I put them next to my desk, so every day, it reminds meabout the next step in my life. I put images of what I want to achieve both in business andin my personal life. It doesn't happen overnight ofcourse, but it trains my brain, and my subconscient to "actas if" I already have the different things on my collage.

I love the way people do business in the US. I don't knowif you realize it but you are very lucky. You have all thetools to succeed, but do you use them?

When you write your objectives on a weekly or monthly basisit makes you actually work on them and act faster. If you are not specific and just say, "I will have money, or Iwill have more clients," then yes, these things will come,but the question is 'when'? You don't have any deadline to accomplish them by! But if you decide that byJuly 30th you will have 6 new clients, you will then do something in order to get those clients instead of praying or waiting to see if this will happen.

I found that the best way of incorporating time for your objectives and marketing plan into your schedule is to setup an appointment with yourself. And whatever happens, evenif there is a client emergency, never cancel this appointment with yourself. Make a decision that once a month or once a week you will spend an hour or two working on your business, focusing on: strategies to get more clients, new products or services tooffer, special campaigns to make more sales and writing articles to post on your newsletter, newspapers or ezine directories to promote your business. The more links you get, the more traffic you will receive on your website (by the way, do you have a website? If not this should be one ofyour objectives for the next 30 days). Do you have a newsletter? This is the easiest and cheapest way to communicate on a regular basis with your clients andprospects, in order to promote and grow your business.

This can be another objective for the next 30 days. Take the time to plan strategies that will help to grow your business. Consider yourself as your most important client. Do for yourself what you do for your clients. Your business needs all your attention, all your energy and all yourdedication. Your future and your success depend on it.

How to Attract New Clients Without Selling?

As a marketing consultant, one of my mission is to help people to grow their business, either by using networking asa marketing strategy, or helping them to find ways to attract more clients. But I like to show people the way I doit means selling without selling. My technique is to attract people and have them to come to me, instead of chasing them.This works much better than running after people to try to sell them my services.

But how do you attract more clients?

Depending on the products or services that you offer, thereare different tactics to use to expand your client roster.
- Ask yourself, why you don't close more sales?
- Do you make enough sales calls?
- Do you call on the right people? People who are likely to be interested in your products and services?
- Are your prospects afraid to buy from you because of therisk they will take with the product or service itself, orbecause they don't know you yet?

Today, people are nervous, skeptical. When you reduce oreliminate the risk of making a purchase from your business, you will create an environment that allows people to buymore from you, and buy more often than they otherwise would have.

It is very important that you build a relationship with your prospects, leads, and customers, so they will trust you,conduct business with you and buy from you.
How can you break their fears?

By offering a sample of your product, you can create a great opportunity for people to test your products and services before they make the decision to buy from you.

Have you noticed companies that advertise on TV?

Very often you will see an invitation to "Call for yourfree brochure," or "Call to receive a free sample."

Why do you think these merchants pay a lot of money (I mean million of dollars) to advertise on TV, plus offer to paymore to send you a sample? Because they know that they may give away a certain number of products, but they will earn ahigh return on their investment.

In other words, by putting the product into the targetcustomer's hands, they create a relationship with the customer. They provide incentives for customers to test their products, and see the results for themselves. This isa proven way to build your customer base and increase sales.

Probably a number of people will take the free sample only, and never make a purchase, but the merchant also gains the opportunity to sell products to people who would never buyif they didn't try it for free first. Those people may become repeat customers.

If nothing else, the merchant builds his/her mailing list.This can be especially valuable, since most of the people who request the sample are interested in the product. They are the ideal target market. And, even though a portion of the respondents will not make a purchase right away, theymay make a purchase in the future.

What if your products or services can't be sold as a sample?

Well, be creative. Let's say you offer a free report, a free e-book or a free booklet, to give your target clients.In your publication, you provide information about your products and services. The result is they will learn more about you, which will position you as an expert in yourfield, and a good percentage of those people will be morewilling to contact you instead of your competitor when theyneed this product or service.

This example is the best way to show you how people contactyou, instead of contacting them, to try to sell themsomething.

But in any case, they still receive my newsletter on a regular basis, and I communicate with them,which means that the day they are ready, I will be on the top of their mind and they will come back to me.

A free report, a free booklet or a free consultation are the best tools to break peoples fear and showcase your expertise. As a result, they will know more about you, which will create a feeling of trust, and chances are that as soon as they will be ready to buy, they will return to you where they already have a relationship.

When people meet you, they will see that you know what you're talking about, and that you have the expertise and knowledge to help them. They will realize that there is a"real person" behind your brochure or website. And if you can give them some valuable information during thisconsultation, they will be more willing to start workingwith you, and buy from you when they are ready.

Implement this strategy on your business and you will besurprised on how you will easily attract more clients.
